Cross-media campaign for Ziegler Zeitgeist Flora: Here's to new beginnings!

Zeitgeist is wild and floral: Ziegler Zeitgeist is the first wild meadow aperitif made in Germany by the traditional distillery Ziegler. The Ziegler name has stood for high-proof spirits, especially fine brandy, for over 150 years. Today, the distillery focuses on natural ingredients and is on its way to becoming climate-neutral.

Zeitgeist is spontaneous and unconventional: In March 2023, colleagues from StoryMachine approached us with a campaign idea for which we were allowed to develop a cross-media concept. A nationwide campaign was organized within a short time, for which we orchestrated various channels and measures for a total duration of four months. The focus was on a 25-second spot with the message “Here’s to new beginnings!”

An overview of our collaboration

  • The measures were primarily intended to generate awareness and branding and to promote sales. A component of the campaign was therefore a drive-to-store measure via mobile ads.
  • In parallel with the drive-to-store campaign, we planned a large-scale programmatic branding campaign with precise targeting.
  • The spot was used not only for classic video ads but also placed in social media on Facebook and Instagram and as a “Branded Player” format in high-quality environments.
  • In addition to online and mobile, the spot was also played on TV via connected TV, with placements on video-on-demand platforms such as waipu.tv and in the media libraries of TV channels.

Types of media that have been selected

Connected TV

The Connected TV spot targeted the online-savvy audience that prefers streaming services over traditional linear TV. The placement occurred on Video-on-Demand platforms like waipu.tv and in the media libraries of TV channels. What made this special was that the spot was aired directly on the TV screen, effectively reaching viewers who consume most of their content through streaming rather than traditional broadcast methods.

Drive-to-Store

To boost sales, one component of the campaign included a drive-to-store strategy through mobile ads. The spots and banners were delivered to users’ smartphones within a predefined radius around the sales locations, targeting those who matched specific audience profiles. The geolocation data allowed for tracking store visits afterward, effectively measuring the success of the campaign in driving foot traffic to the stores.

Online

The spot for the campaign was placed as a “Branded Player” format in premium environments. In this format, the clip is integrated into a highlight section where precisely matching content appears, optimizing click-through rates. This ad format effectively enhances branding and increases recall value. Additionally, the spot was also delivered as classic video ads, including on platforms like YouTube.

Social Media

The banners were also utilized for social media ads. A variety of different creatives were delivered to users on Facebook and Instagram. Targeting was based on geography, demographics, and interests. The ads were shown on both mobile and desktop platforms.
